What is Sports Friendship Day
This year marks the 30th Annual Sports Friendship Day at Saint Vincent College, a day where over 150 guests with special needs, intellectual disabilities or physical limitations spend the afternoon on campus with a current students. The afternoon entails games, crafts, a sing-a-long, talent show, mass, and dinner. In the past, this day has been a huge success because of the generous Saint Vincent students.
When a buddy arrives at Sports Friendship Day he or she is paired with a college buddy. This pairing allows the buddy to feel more comfortable in an unfamiliar place, while also allowing him or her to be part of the Saint Vincent community. It tends to be a very rewarding experience for the college student as well in that it helps them befriend a person they otherwise would not have had the chance to meet.
In order for all of our guests to attend dinner we ask, if able, for meal donations. This is a simple way to help! The time commitment for being a buddy is
11:30am - 4:15pm unless you choose to attend Mass. Sports Friendship Day is a great, fun way to get involved and we would like to extend an invitation to all members of the Saint Vincent College community to volunteer this March 23rd.
Please click on the tabs above to register as a buddy and/or donate meals.
